IF you have been to the Eastern and Northern parts of the United States, or from Northern Mexico to Quebec and Canada, you might have spotted the Luna Moth on some trees.
“Luna” means moon, and since it is nocturnal, it is also known as the American Moon Moth.
This beautiful large exotic moth with interesting colours mimics the leaf for camouflage. It has broad wings with yellow stripes and a long wing tail.
The colours can vary depending on the region, from bluish green to a yellow in the background colouring.
Most moths live for an average of five weeks, but adult Luna Moths only live for about a week. This is because they do not have mouths and thus cannot eat! – BY SCIENCE BRIDGE ACADEMY
