ISAAA SEAsiaCenter opens the registration for the 4th Asian Short Course on Agribiotechnology, Biosafety Regulation, and Communication (ASCA2021) scheduled on November 23-26, 2021, 2-5PM GMT+8 via Zoom.

The potential of agribiotech to contribute to sustainable agriculture depends on research and development, as well as the integration of other factors, such as effective communication, science-based national regulatory frameworks, and an adequate understanding of international legal instruments. Strong collaboration among key players in the agri-biotech and biosafety arena is important so that science and regulation can evolve and society can benefit from modern biotechnology while risks are minimized.

The short course is designed to enable participants to better understand the following topics:

  • entire value chain related to research, development, commercialization, and trade of living modified organisms (LMOs);
  • national and international legal instruments related to LMOs;
  • effective communication of agribiotechnology and biosafety regulation;
  • communicating agribiotechnology on social media; and
  • science diplomacy in international negotiations.

International experts will serve as resource persons in the sessions. This short course is co-organized with the US Soybean Export Council, US Grains Council, Murdoch University, Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture, Outreach Network for Gene Drive Research, and Malaysian Biotechnology Information Center.

The participant’s fee of US$150 covers access to the workshop, training kit, and certificate. Download the flyer for more details.
