Paul Teng
Professor Paul Teng is Principal Officer, National Institute of Education, and Senior Fellow (Food Security), S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has over thirty years of experience in agri-food security issues from positions at the WorldFish Center, the International Rice Research Institute and Monsanto Company.
Paul’s work has included research on rice, fish, vegetables and corn. His recent work has focused on urban food security and agri-production, from perspectives of enabling policy and technologies, including emergent technologies. Paul was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science in March 2016 by Murdoch University, Australia, for his work in agro-technology.
He was previously awarded the Eriksson Prize in Plant Pathology by the Swedish Academy of Science, and is a Fellow of the American Phytopathological Society, and Fellow, TWAS, The World Academy of Sciences. He is currently Chair of Asia Biobusiness Pte. Ltd. a bio-business technical consultancy; a Director of GTT Ecofarm, a mariculture farm; and has close working links to centres of expertise in fish, rice and vegetables.
He is also the honorary Chairman, International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) and an honorary Senior Fellow of the SouthEast Asia Regional Centre for Research & Graduate Studies in Agriculture (SEARCA). His most recent books are BioScience Entrepreneurship in Asia (2008) and Agricultural Biotechnology and Global Competitiveness (Edtd., 2015). He was also recently Guest Editor of a special volume of COSMOS (Journal of the Singapore National Academy of Science) on Food Security, Vol 11(1) 2015, which includes papers on food safety, urban vegetable farming, aquaculture and food waste. These accompany over 250 other technical papers and eight other books.
Paul currently advises several MNCs on sustainability matters and is assisting the Food & Agriculture Organization, UN, on partnership matters.
Joyce Wong Jin Yi
Joyce Wong Jin Yi is a highly qualified and experienced nutrition coach. With a master’s degree in Food Science and Nutrition and as a master practitioner of NLP, Joyce has authored four scientific research papers and one review paper in international journals focused on the nutritional and antioxidant properties of plants. She is also a respected columnist for The Petri Dish Science Magazine.
